Ye Tera Ghar Ye Mera Ghar

This show was created for the Star network in 2007 and was a story very relevant to its time. It is set in the modern day where joint families have given way to nuclear ones and where all the siblings live so apart from each other that they sometimes indifferent to what people of their own blood are up to.

The story begins with the death of this immensely rich old man – Brij Mohan Shukla. The information is sent out to his heirs, and they are told to return to the ancestral home for the reading of the will.

All three sons have been estranged from their father. While Brij Mohan was a successful businessman, he was a failure in getting his family to stay together. When the will is read, it contains the old man’s last trick to get his family to understand what being a ‘family’ is all about.

The trick involves forcing all the three brothers to stay together under the same roof. The drama became an interesting watch since these three siblings are completely different from each other and hence are their family culture, lifestyles etc. To see their journey of ignorance to tolerance to eventually accepting the other as they are, valuing them and loving their family was what won people’s hearts.

The serial holds lessons about the meaning of family for everyone.
